Glosses, GLazes, and Toners

October 18 2017

GLOSSES, GLAZES, AND TONERS

Have you ever heard your stylist mention a gloss, a toner, or a glaze. It is a quick and easy service that is done sometimes during highlights, color, or balayage. It can be used as a service in between colors though. A gloss is a demi permanent color that can be used to tone down color. Is can also be used as a color for roots if you need a little color added but you do not want to use a permanent color. Glosses are easy to use and maintain and the slowly fade out naturally instead of causing a line of regrowth. Glosses are also great for newcomers to color to try out a new shade or tone to your hair without the cause of permanent color.     If you are ready to try a new color or just feel your color is not suiting you well and you need a little change talk to your stylist about...

Plunging to the Red

PLUNGING TO THE RED

Red hair catches all eyes. It can be one of the most beautiful colors if done properly and maintained well. Whether it’s bright red, auburn, or dark red, it’s always eye catching. Only certain people and skin colors can truly pull off red hair. Certain reds go better with skin tones versus another reds. People with very pale, cool skin tones should do a cooler toned red, and olive skin tone should color their hair a darker red and stray away from the orange-hued brassy reds. If you have a medium natural based skin tone, you can pull off a medium toned red color, something natural but in the range of cool or warm. Always consult with a stylist and talk about what you’re looking for and what they think will look best with your skin tone. Having a haircolor that does not suit well with your...

caring for your summer hair

CARING FOR YOUR SUMMER HAIR

Summer is a great time of year! You become tan, it’s always warm and beautiful, and you over all feel better about yourself. But your hair sometimes can take a toll from enjoying the sun. Chlorine, salt water, and sun can be damaging to your hair, therefor you need to take the right precautions to keep your hair healthy  and shiny. Chlorine and saltwater strips  your hair of natural oils and creates damages and matted hair. To keep your hair healthy, shiny, and keep your color protected follow these tips! Always soak your hair in tap water, bottle water, or any type of fresh water before taking a dip in the pool or ocean. Your hair only absorbs water so much, therefor if its already wet, it won’t absorb the chlorine water or salt water. Use Elixir 11 before and after going into the sun,...

How much does it really cost to get white hair?

HOW MUCH DOES IT REALLY COST TO GET WHITE HAIR?

Recently in the salon we’ve had people point out one of our stylist hair. It’s an almost white blonde or “platinum blonde”. It’s white with little yellow seen so its a pretty ashy color. Now when clients point this out, we say its hard to get to and sometimes impossible, because honestly, it can be impossible. If you have black hair, to get to “white hair” you’re taking a physical toll on your hair. Some hair might not be able to take that damage and it will snap off or break off. The natural hair color our client has is a dirty light blonde, so it’s not hard to take it up to that white blonde. But our starting color, to go back to the white blonde, was a dark brown. We’re going to give you the total amount of time it took to color her hair, what it cost, and the maintenance....

Curly hair dont care

CURLY HAIR DONT CARE

Calling all curls! Are you frustrated with your hair, have no idea how to maintain the curls, or how to style it? Well we have finally gathered tons of research to figure out how we can help you. People are particular about how their curls are going to be maintained and who’s going to maintain them. Curls are hard to work with. Every curl is different. People have frizzy curls and then there is curly hair that is perfect in every way (or so it looks). No curl pattern is the same and people need to realize that. Curls are created by the shape of the cortex formation. Curls are also created by the protein structure and the amount of disulfide bonds that occur in the hair protein. Now that’s a lot to take in, so to make it simple. What the hair is created by (the protein) is shaped in all...

But our...

OLAPLEX: WHAT IS ALL THE HYPE?

Olaplex has been one of the top growing products in the salon industry in the past year. But what the heck is it and what does it do? Basically, it’s insurance for your hair. Olaplex reconnects the bonds in your hair so your hair does not become damaged after all your services. Olaplex is a three step process but doesn’t take up much extra time during your salon visit or when you are at home. The three step process is what makes this product so amazing.  If you skip one, you might at well not even bother with the rest. The all go off of each other to make the product work best. The three step process goes by color, shampoo, take home. The first step is when the olaplex is added to the color. So the first process is a liquid form. NEW TRENDS AND STYLES; WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

New trends and styles come out every year. whether it’s color, highlights, a cut or extensions, it’s ever evolving. People see pictures on Pinterest, Google, Magazine’s, Facebook, any type of social media and want that style. But, do you ever see the same style with two to three different names? Each style may look similar, but it’s completely different. The four most common and popular names that get mixed up are balayage, sombre, ombre, and highlights. Each has its own technique and style that stylists are sent to classes to learn.  Balayage is a technique for highlighting the hair. The color, or lightener, is painted onto the hair where it gives a gradual and natural looking effect to the hair. Each piece of hair is hand picked by your stylist to give you the look you’re trying...
